Heartbreak as new father, 16, dies in head-on crash with woman, 67, driving the wrong way down major highway at 80mph at 3am – as horrifying pictures show their mangled wrecked cars

  • Father Thomas Ryder Shoup, 16, died in the collision just after 3am April 10
  • Motorist Eileen Crawford, 67, was traveling the wrong way and also died

A teenage father has died in a horrific head-on crash with a woman who was driving the wrong way down a major highway at 3am in California.

Shocking photographs show the mangled vehicles in the aftermath of the collision which took the lives of Thomas Ryder Shoup, 16, and Eileen Crawford, 67.

Shoup, known as Ryder Day, was described as ‘the sweetest kid’ by relatives, while Crawford had been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, according to friends.

California Highway Patrol said Crawford’s Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way at 75-80mph down the Interstate 5 in southern California on April 10.

She collided head-on with the Dodger Challenger driven by Ryder, a 10th-grader at Mar Vista High School who has a baby son called Marcelo.

California Highway Patrol said Crawford’s Honda Civic was traveling the wrong way at 75-80mph down the Interstate 5 in southern California on April 10

‘Ryder has been surrounded by so much love since the day he was born and could light up a room with his infectious smile.

‘He was able to accomplish so much at just 16 years old and leaves behind his son Marcelo, and his girlfriend Eliana, who meant the world to Ryder.’

The City of Imperial Beach, where Ryder lived, shared a statement remembering him as a popular teenager who was on the city’s junior lifeguard program.

‘His instructors knew him as a great kid who was well liked. Ryder was very athletic, competitive, and always had a smile on his face,’ officials said.

Shoup, known as Ryder Day, was described as ‘the sweetest kid’ by relatives on a GoFundMe

‘When I found out, my heart dropped,’ Ryder’s friend, Gilbert Solis said.

‘He would always have a smile on that face on the field or on the sideline. He would always have a big white smile on his face.’

The scene of the crash, on the I-5 near the San Ysidro Port of Entry, is littered with debris and the two vehicles at the scene were almost completely destroyed.

It is not clear how Crawford began traveling the wrong way down the highway, but her car had been hurtling in that direction for around six miles before the crash.

The CHP said concerned motorists had alerted them about the Honda traveling the wrong way, but the crash happened just three minutes after the first 911 call.

Her neighbor Francisco Beltran said that she had been undergoing radiation treatment for cancer and was sometimes forgetful.

‘Sometimes, she went south, you know, kind of blank-minded and just take off,’ Beltran told NBC.

A toxicology report to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash is yet to be released.

The world’s BEST police chase video! Nail-biting motorbike pursuit through city’s narrow streets leaves viewers stunned… right up to its dramatic end

  • Incredible police footage shows epic motorbike chase through the streets of Osasco
  • Stunned onlookers watch fugitive biker and female pillion evade cops in Brazil
  • Breath-taking six-minute video branded one of the best-ever police chases

This video may just be the most thrilling and action-packed police chase not to feature in a Hollywood movie.

This nail-biting police motorbike chase took place in the narrow streets of the Brazilian city of Osasco, Sao Paulo in 2021 and was captured by the body-camera of a motorcycle police officer.

The wanted man is seen riding a 300cc Honda XRE with carrying a passenger on the back of his ride at high-speeds to evade the GCM Osasco officer who follows closely behind him.

In the six-minute video, the two narrowly dodge cars, buses, another police car and even a ladder, in a pursuit which sees them pull off a number of tight turns and become airborne over speed humps.

Despite a series of breath-taking near misses, the cop manages to stay on the lead rider’s tail, as he and the passenger turn around regularly in shock to see the law still chasing them.

The chase ends with the runner falling on a tight, pedestrian path, where he is seen to remove his helmet and surrender to the officer.

The footage went viral this year, when X profile @clipsthatgohard, a channel which specialized in videos and radical shots, shared the video on Sunday, May 7.

The video reached eight millions views in less than 24 hours.

The recording was also posted on the YouTube channels of Brazilian news outlet UOL and Talking2musicians, who accompanied the clips with a soft rock soundtrack.

A number of online users commented on the jaw dropping action, with one writing: ‘This video is an action director’s dream! I mean, even if they tried to film this sequence using multiple cameras and an entire film crew it STILL would never look this good…. and in one take is just insane.

British student, 25, is arrested after smuggling cocaine disguised as milk out of Colombia

  • Fahad Uddin Ahmed, 25, allegedly had ‘10,000 doses’ of the class-A drug on him
  • Local reports claimed he was boarding a flight to London before he was caught

A British student has been arrested after allegedly being caught smuggling cocaine disguised as milk out of Colombia.

Fahad Uddin Ahmed, 25, was stopped as he tried to board a plane to London from Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport near the city of Cali.

Officers opened up the packets of powdered milk he was carrying in front of him before doing a drug colour test at the airport which they claim confirmed the packets contained the illegal class A substance.

The Brit student was made to pose in front of what it is claimed is an illegal drug stash by Colombian police before being taken away prisoner.

The student was suspected of attempting to carry '10,000 doses' of the class-A drug into London
The student was suspected of attempting to carry ‘10,000 doses’ of the class-A drug into London

Local reports said the plane he was planning to board was bound for London with a connection in the German city of Frankfurt.

He is said to have been carrying four bags, marked Klim, in his hand luggage, which the police allege contain cocaine.

Police say he had ‘10,000 doses’ of the drug on him, although the exact weight is not yet clear.

A police spokesman said: ‘The arrested person is British.

It was not immediately clear today whether he had already gone before a judge and been remanded in custody pending an ongoing investigation

‘He was carrying cocaine disguised as milk. It was detected when his luggage was searched at Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Airport by officers stationed at the airport working with immigration officers,’ police claimed.

Officers also released footage of the drug test they performed in front of the British traveller.

A person acting as a translator could be overhead saying: ‘We’re just verifying everything we’re going to do’ as an officer wearing gloves inspected the milk packets and explained he was going to analyse the substance inside.

The English speaker added: ‘We are going to test each one individually as part of the narco test’ moments before a chemical reaction led to the white napkins laid out in front of the packets turning a tell-tale blue.

The detained man was led away in handcuffs with a grim look on his face by two uniformed officers.

It was not immediately clear today whether he had already gone before a judge and been remanded in custody pending an ongoing investigation.

According to the Colombian criminal code, if a person has 10 to 28 grams of cocaine in their possession, it is considered trafficking, and for the first offense, they would be facing three to 10 years in prison.

At the start of last month a British man was arrested after trying to fly out of the Dominican Republic with two suitcases full of suspected cocaine.

The 32-year-old was held as he tried to board a plane to Frankfurt in Germany.

Police on the Caribbean island confirmed the arrest and said they were trying to find out if he was part a larger gang of drug traffickers.

Officers also released video footage showing them counting out the 36 cellophane-wrapped packets containing the suspected cocaine, barely hidden under a thin layer of clothing.

The arrest was made at Punta Cana International Airport after specialist sniffer dogs honed in on the two suspicious suitcases. The British man was taken into custody after spot tests on the suspected drugs.

Last October a British model who flaunted his jet set lifestyle on social media was jailed for seven years in Peru after being caught trying to fly out of the country with £300,000 worth of cocaine.

Londoner Modou Dodou Adams wowed his thousands of social media fans with his trendsetting looks and VIP globetrotting under the self-styled moniker of ‘boywholives’ in a show of excess branded by authorities as a front for his criminal activities.

His apparent world of glamour was left in tatters after he confessed to being a drug trafficker and was told he now faces the next six years and eight months in a hellhole South American jail.

Adams, 25, was held at Lima’s international airport as he tried to check in for a flight to London via Paris with almost three kilos of cocaine in his suitcase.

He was handed his sentence in a quickie trial 24 hours after his arrest by the same police force that held Michaella McCollum and Melissa Reid, the so-called Peru Two in August 2013.

The Peru Two, Michaella McCollum from Dungannon, Northern Ireland, and Melissa Reid from Lenzie, Scotland, were arrested on August 6, 2013, on suspicion of drug smuggling at Jorge Chávez International Airport, Lima, Peru, after their luggage was found to contain 11 kilos of cocaine.

They initially claimed they had been coerced by an armed gang but subsequently pleaded guilty.

On December 17, 2013, the pair were sentenced to six years and eight months’ imprisonment.

Melissa Reid (right) and Michaella McCollum Conolly (left) were arrested at Lima airport with cocaine in their luggage

In early 2016, both women sought to return to the United Kingdom.

McCollum applied to be freed on parole and was released on March 31, 2016, with the prospect of having to remain in Peru for up to six years.

In April 2016 the Peruvian authorities agreed to expel Reid from the country.

She was released from prison on June 21 that year and immediately returned to Britain, arriving at Glasgow airport the following day.

McCollum returned to Europe two months later, arriving at Dublin airport in Ireland on 13 August 2016.

She later wrote a book about her experiences titled ‘You’ll Never See Daylight Again.’

In June 2022 a British man named locally at the time as Russell Tamer was arrested on suspicion of trying to smuggle cocaine out of a Colombian airport strapped to his body.

Police held him as he allegedly threw a packet containing the drug into an airport toilet after spotting uniformed officers at a security airport.

The arrest took place in Simon Bolivar International Airport, the airport serving Santa Marta city in Colombia which is the capital of Magdalena Department.

It was not immediately clear today if he has already been dealt with by the courts.

Cocaine production and trafficking are considered the main driver of an almost six-decade armed conflict in Colombia that has left more than 450,000 dead and millions displaced.

  • Bizarre clip shows the car being lifted into the air as it approaches the junction
  • Two other cars are then pulled upwards before slamming back down
  • Internet users have suggested a downed powerline caused the incident
  • Chinese media reported incident was caused by a piece of steel cable

This is the bizarre moment cars appeared to levitate in the air as one drove towards a crossroads in central China.

The strange clip emerged on LiveLeak and shows the three vehicles being pulled upwards before one rolls onto its side in the city of Xingtai.

In the video, which has baffled the internet, a van can be seen approaching a junction when the back end of it is lifted.

At the same time the front of another vehicle is pulled upwards, while the back end of a car in another lane moves.

They each crash back down onto the road with a bang, while the first, which was lifted the most aggressively, lands on its side.

Young woman is mauled by a shark- before hero VET steps in to save her life

A young woman has been mauled by a shark in Sydney Harbour, with a vet who witnessed the horror unfold credited with saving her life.

Emergency services rushed to a private wharf in in Elizabeth Bay at 7.45pm on Monday to find the woman, aged in her 20s or early 30s, with a severe bite to her right leg and suffering ‘major blood loss’.

A vet who was passing by had already applied a tourniquet to stem the bleeding from the woman’s leg and may have saved her life – but there are fears she could lose her leg.

‘She had serious bleeding. Her injuries are severe,’ a NSW Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.

A grandmother was given the fright of her life when her grandchildren pranked her into thinking she was about to be attacked by a shark.

The woman was filmed by her giggling relatives as she visited an interactive aquarium at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., apparently unaware it was actually a pre-recorded video.

After tapping the glass of the aquarium several times – the grandmother turns to the camera bewildered.

Then, one final tap sees the ‘shark’ make a a quick about turn and smash into the glass, cracking it- and sending the petrified woman hurtling backwards with a scream.

Rare two-headed snake is discovered in Bali by shocked students

0

A rare two-headed snake is discovered in Bali by shocked students. Bali residents were shocked to discover a large two-headed snake out in the wild.

The reptile was found in the streets of a small village in the Tabanan region on August 30.

Residents were surprised to find the two-headed snake slithering on a large leaf and some extremely brave people grabbed a stick and examined the odd occurrence.

The snake was found in the streets of a small village in the Tabanan region on August 30

Rare Two-headed snakes how do they Occur?

Two-headed snakes also known as bicephalic or dicephalic snakes, are rare occurrences in the animal kingdom. They are a type of congenital anomaly where the snake develops two heads instead of the typical single head.

Occurrence: Two-headed snakes are extremely rare and occur as a result of incomplete separation of embryonic tissue during development. This anomaly can occur in various snake species, including both venomous and non-venomous species.

Physical Characteristics: Two-headed snakes have two distinct heads attached to a single body. Each head may have its own brain, although the degree of functionality and coordination between the heads can vary. The heads may exhibit independent movements and behaviors, but they are connected to the same body and share internal organs.

Survivability: The survivability of two-headed snakes in the wild is typically low. They may face challenges related to coordination, competition for food, and vulnerability to predators. However, some two-headed snakes have been known to survive for a period of time with proper care in captivity.

Fascination and Mythology: Two-headed snakes have long fascinated people and have appeared in mythology, folklore, and popular culture throughout history. They are often associated with symbolism related to duality, balance, and mysticism.

Scientific Study: Two-headed snakes are of interest to scientists and researchers studying developmental biology, genetics, and evolutionary biology. They provide insights into the processes of embryonic development and the genetic factors that influence morphological abnormalities.

Conservation: While two-headed snakes are rare and may not contribute significantly to wild populations, they are sometimes cared for in zoos, research facilities, and private collections. Proper care and study of these animals can contribute to our understanding of snake biology and genetics.
